TEN YEARS AFTER THE START OF ADES IN
2001 WE CAN LOOK BACK ON A MOST SATISFACTORY NUMBER OF SUCCESSES
- Solar cookers are now in great
demand. By end of December 2010 6000 solar cookers were sold at very moderate
cost. The launch of the energy saving ovens OLI-b and OLI-c was also very
successful; by end of 2010 more than 1000 specimen were sold.
- ADES has developed into a
non-profit small enterprise. By now we have 70 employees for the production and promotion of solar cookers in Tuléar,
Ejeda, Morondava and Morombe in the southwest of Madagascar.
- ADES pays the school fees for the
children of all employees as well as the health insurance premiums for their
families.
- ADES has become widely known
locally as well as nation-wide since 2001.
- ADES’s projects are being supported
considerably also by the local government.
- ADES works closely with a number of
partners.
We take great pride in these successes, but we will not
rest. We still have a lot of plans.
THESE ARE OUR
PERSPECTIVES FOR THE FUTURE
- Ongoing motivation of the people
for solar cooking in the cities as well as in the country.
- Implementation of environmental
learning and solar cooking in schools and in teachers’ training courses.
- Further promotion of the parabolic
solar cooker and of the energy saving oven for those times of the day when the
solar cooker cannot be used. Both are energy efficient cooking devices.
- ADES has developed a solar cooker
for schools and is currently testing it in three different schools for the preparation
of the children’s lunch.
- More and more schools, mission
stations, hospitals, homes and other aid institutions are interested in joining
work forces with ADES.
- Ongoing but careful and circumspect
advancement at a pace that we will be able to keep up, financially as well as
organisationally.
- Focus on work in the southwest of
Madagascar.
- Opening of a solar café, a
long-felt want of ADES.
